Animal Rescue and Shelters in Cape Breton

The Cape Breton SPCA services all of industrial Cape Breton. That is a very heavy burden. Their euthanasia rate is very high as a result of this. For a list of their adorable adoptables please check their Petfinder page.

Public education is in dire need on the island as many people do not vaccinate their pets or have them spayed or neutered. Also, many people purchase their pets from backyard breeders or pet stores in the area. If these things continue to happen, the euthanasia rate at the Cape Breton SPCA will continue to be high. We need to have everyone working toward a common goal in order for things to improve.

Please consider adopting a dog from this shelter, and convince your friends and family in CB to please spay/neuter their pets.

We recommend the Clansman Motel if you are looking for a wonderful place to stay in Cape Breton when you are travelling with your dog.
